“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Dr Seuss

We celebrate and promote reading throughout the junior years. We aim to foster a love of books so that children become readers for life; the library is at the heart of our school. The library has a wide range of fiction and non-fiction books and each year group is allocated time each week to browse the shelves, change their library books or read the My Weekly or First News which is a newspaper written especially for schools. The library is run by year 6 pupil librarians under the guidance of our volunteer librarian.

Hook And A Book

Our curriculum has books at its heart with termly novels associated with both English and wider curriculum learning challenges. Get set to enjoy Zeraffa Giraffa, Stone Age Boy, Beowulf, Oranges in No Man’s Land and Wonder to name only a few.

Phonics @ Juniors

In addition to regular individual and whole class reading, children have access to many books from a scheme known as Little Wandle.

You’ll find much information, videos and tips by looking through the Little Wandle website HERE.
